ORLAND PARK, IL — A pedestrian was struck and killed amid a four-car crash in Orland Park Monday morning, police said.
The multi-car crash happened at 149th and LaGrange Road at 10:52 a.m. According to police, the pedestrian, a 66-year-old man, was hit after one of the vehicles involved in the crash left the roadway.
Officials have not yet released his identity.
Police initially said three cars were involved in the crash; Monday afternoon they clarified there was a fourth. Three of the vehicles sustained heavy damage, Orland Fire Protection District officials said. Three additional patients sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate and were treated on scene before being taken to area hospitals, fire officials said.
The crash closed the intersection for several hours. It reopened at 6 p.m., police said.
