ORLAND PARK, IL — The Village of Orland Park will welcome Jim Cornelison, longtime national anthem singer for the Chicago Blackhawks, to perform during the annual Veterans Tribute at the 23rd annual Taste of Orland Park (14700 S. Ravinia Ave.) for 6 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1.
"This year's Veterans Tribute will be a meaningful opportunity for our community to come together in honor of the men and women who have defended our freedoms," said Mayor Jim Dodge. "Having Jim Cornelison perform the national anthem makes this year's tribute even more memorable as we celebrate America's 250th anniversary and honor those who have served our nation."
Classically trained as an opera singer, Cornelison has performed at major sporting events across the country, including the Indianapolis 500, Chicago Bears season openers, NHL Winter Classics and Stanley Cup championship celebrations.
The Village's annual Veterans Tribute recognizes local veterans and active-duty service members for their service and sacrifice.
The Taste of Orland Park, presented by Northwestern Medicine, runs July 31 through Aug. 2 at the Village Green.
Admission is free, and the three-day festival features local restaurants, live entertainment, a Kids' Zone, community and sponsor booths, fireworks, a drone show and more.
