The Friends of the Orland Park Public Library invite the community to discover thousands of gently-used books at their annual one-day book sale on Saturday, Aug. 8, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the library's Large Meeting Room, 14921 S. Ravinia Ave., Orland Park. With approximately 5,000 books available, the sale offers something for readers of all ages and interests. About 75 percent of the inventory consists of newly donated books, and approximately half are hardcover editions. All books have been carefully sorted by category, providing shoppers with an organized browsing experience.

Book prices range from 50 cents to $2, making it an affordable opportunity to stock up on summer reading, build a personal library, or find hidden literary treasures. Credit cards will be accepted. Unlike many used book sales, this collection has not been picked over by specialty buyers, giving every shopper the opportunity to browse a wide selection of quality titles.

In addition to books, a limited selection of technology items, including printers and tablets, will be available for purchase. Audio-visual media, such as DVDs, will not be sold during this event.

The Friends of the Orland Park Public Library is a nonprofit volunteer organization dedicated to supporting the library through fundraising and advocacy. Proceeds from book sales help fund library programs, services, and special initiatives that benefit the community.

Residents who are unable to attend the one-day sale can shop year-round in the Friends' Recycled Reads room, located near the bottom of the library's main staircase. The Friends also welcome donations of gently-used books, which may be dropped off at the library. Because the Friends is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, donations may be tax deductible. Donors should consult their tax professional.

Community members are also encouraged to become Friends of the Library. Annual membership is just $5 and helps support the organization's mission of enhancing library services and programming.
