ORLAND PARK, IL — Orland Park officials last month signed off on a curbside compost hauler, the Village said Friday.
At the July 20, 2026, Village Board meeting, Orland Park Trustees approved a contract with WasteNot, Inc. as a new curbside compost collection hauler for homes, businesses, and schools. WasteNot will provide high-quality, subscription collection services with their fully electric fleet of vehicles and exemplary customer service to Orland Park residents.
The year-round service will make composting more accessible and convenient for Orland Park residents, officials said. Service is offered biweekly, every other week.
Participating residents receive an airtight 5-gallon compost receptacle for a wide variety of compostables including all food waste, 100 percent paper products, certified compostable products, and more.
WasteNot also uses a "receptacle swap" strategy, swapping each used receptacle for a clean, sanitized container at every service.
"We are excited to partner with WasteNot to bring an eco-friendly, convenient composting solution to Orland Park," said Mayor Jim Dodge. "This program reflects our ongoing commitment to sustainability, making it easier than ever for our residents, schools and local businesses to reduce landfill waste."
Service is now active in Orland Park as of August 2026.
Residents can sign up for WasteNot's curbside compost collection service to receive their receptacles on the first service day. Registration remains open on WasteNot's website, with no long-term commitments or cancellation fees. The service will also be offered to commercial businesses, schools, nonprofits, events and multifamily buildings in Orland Park.
