ORLAND PARK, IL — The Orland Park Police Department has added a new K-9 member, a black-and tan bloodhound name Joie, who was sworn in on Oct. 19, the Village announced Wednesday.
Joie will be handled by Officer Kyle Jachim and will serve as a specialized resource for missing-person searches and offender tracking. Working dogs play a key role in locating suspects, finding vulnerable people and enhancing community safety, the police department said.
Joie's addition will allow the department to expand its search capabilities and shorten response times during critical incidents by providing specialized trailing support within Orland Park.
"The Orland Park Police Department is excited to welcome Joie and Officer Jachim to their new roles," said Police Chief Eric Rossi. "Joie's unique skills will be an incredible asset to our department and a tremendous benefit to the safety and well-being of our community."
Joie recently completed a specialized training program for scent detection and trailing. She will now pursue her official trailing certification through the North American Police Work Dog Association and the National Police Bloodhound Association.
The Orland Park Police Department looks forward to Joie's service to the Village and welcomes her to the team.
