Consolidated High School District 230 is proud to announce the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) has officially awarded Carl Sandburg, Amos Alonzo Stagg and Victor J. Andrew High Schools the highest distinction under the state's updated 2026 accountability framework: an Exemplary designation.
The Exemplary designation places all three D230 schools in the top tier of performance statewide. Under Illinois' updated Profiles of Performance framework - which measures academic proficiency, growth, and student success metrics - this recognition confirms that every school in our district is delivering an outstanding education and meeting the highest standards for student achievement and growth.
Under Illinois' updated accountability model, schools are evaluated on fixed, rigorous performance benchmarks rather than competing against one another on a curve. Most importantly, to qualify as exemplary, a high school must demonstrate that every student group is thriving, with no demographic subgroup failing into underperforming status. This is a validation not only of academic excellence, but also of equity and access for all learners.
"Earning an Exemplary designation does not mean our work is finished, stated Dr. Anita Huffman, Assistant Superintendent for Instructional Services. Rather, it provides momentum as we continue to refine our programs through continuous improvement efforts aligned to our district's strategic plan, staying focused on simply getting better at getting better."
