Village of Orland Park Offers Early Bird Memberships for Aquatic Center

ORLAND PARK, IL – The Village of Orland Park’s Centennial Park Aquatic Center will open for the 2012 season Memorial Day Weekend, on May 26, 2012. Early bird membership rates are available until April 28, 2012.

The village’s Centennial Park Aquatics Center, open from Memorial Day through Labor Day each year, includes a lazy river, body flume, drop slide, tube slides, platform jump, zero depth pool with kiddie play structures and lap lanes.

“The village’s pool is a destination of choice for residents of all ages,” said Orland Park Mayor Dan McLaughlin. “The original pool opened during the village’s centennial year, 1992, and it’s grown to become one of the most popular water parks in the region,” the mayor added.

Early bird rates for village residents are $80 for an individual, $120 for couple, with families of three to five being $150. Additional discounts are available for seniors. Non-resident rates are available for those who don’t live in the village.

Returning for its second year will be the Lake Sedgewick kayak and pedal boat rentals, running the same season as the pool, Memorial Day to Labor Day.

“A number of people enjoyed using the kayaks and pedal boats on Lake Sedgewick last year and we’re glad to bring this Centennial Park amenity back again this year,” McLaughlin said.

Rental fees and hours for the rentals can be found on page 94 of the village’s Spring/Summer Program Guide and in the recreation area of the village’s website at www.orland-park.il.us.

Pool memberships are available at the village’s Recreation Administration Center, 14600 South Ravinia Avenue, and at the village’s Sportsplex, 11351 West 159th Street. All residents must present two forms of identification at registration, both of which must prove residency within the corporate limits of the village. Acceptable proofs of address include driver’s licenses and current utility bills. Billing addresses must be within the corporate limits of the Village of Orland Park.

A family membership is defined as five immediate family members residing in the same household with valid proof of residency. Children two years of age and under are admitted free and do not need to be present at registration. Resident ID’s are recommended for all resident non-members in order to receive the resident daily admission rate. Passes must be retained from year to year. Once a membership is renewed, passes will be automatically activated and there is no need to come in.

“With the warmer weather already here, we want to be sure that everyone takes advantage of the early bird rates when joining the pool,” said Trustee Pat Gira, chair of the village’s Recreation, Parks and Environmental Initiatives Committee.
