B*U*B* Café Celebrates Women's History Month in Blue Island Sun Mar 30

Local Ladies of Legend, an invite to explore issues impacting women's hold on the world as leaders, nurturers, truth seekers, conquerers.

B*U*B* Café in Blue Island will celebrate Women’s History Month 2025 with “Local Ladies of Legend” – an exchange of ideas faire honoring women of leadership who stand strong in their paths for others to follow.

Sunday, March 30, 2025 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., B*U*B* Café transitions its generous, exciting space into its vision to uplift women through self expression: who you are; one’s defining periods in life; education endeavors; barriers before surging ahead; misogyny hurdles conquered; female-specific experiences of epic proportions; how everyone’s hope reaches toward owning the future, and more.

“Come to the café to mingle and share,” said Ashley Mixon, a B*U*B* Café manager. “Women know intuitively that setbacks are only temporary and by sharing that revelation with others they gift hope, promise and fortitude in these uncertain times.

“We envision a laid-back atmosphere where our guests roam or gather at tables to which they are drawn naturally,” said Mixon. “No one will be pressed to talk, especially if they are content to absorb other’s energy.”

According to organizers, keynote speakers will lead open discussion with interactive question-and-answer formats.

“The day will take on a life of its own, built around the dynamic personalities and listening powers that make for impactful encounters,” said B*U*B* Café Chef Sarah Howlett, a co-manager.

Organizers appreciate that today’s woman is confronted with a myriad of scheduling obstacles, so they invite guests to visit for a brief stay, an extended part of the day or come and go throughout the 9 to 3 time frame – or return with a friend.

“There is definitely not a hard stop at 3 o’clock in the afternoon if the flow says go,” said Howlett. “We understand time is important, so we’ll be pleased if guests stay as long or as short as they can.”

Organizers encourage guests to estimate or guess a window of time -- and how much time is available.

“We can post a timeline so guests can make sure to see if they have common ground to explore with others, such as attending the same college, similar career paths, or even motherhood or fertility issues to share.”

This is an all-ages, all-inclusive public event.

“Your story is unique and worthy of being told,” said Mixon. “Ice breaker questions will spur and engage conversation.

“If someone is not inclined to talk about themselves, they can feel free to tell us a story about a woman who inspired their life,” said Mixon “Our pledge to our guests is to be as inspirational to future generations as we can, while honoring the memories of the women who came before us.

“Come share a story over a cappuccino or just listen to someone whose own experiences are cemented in their own living history,” said Howlett. “Welcome all.”
