The Biggest Challenges Facing Illinois in 2015

Hope you had a happy new year, but now it's time to get back to work and solve the state's top six challenges.

Now that 2014 is behind us, it’s time to focus on resolving the immense challenges that lay ahead in 2015. The state government, which will soon have a Republican governor leading a legislature in firm Democratic control, has some tough tasks to tackle.

While you’ll be happy to see that big raise in your pay check with the partial rollback of the 5 percent temporary income tax hike, your pay raise also could be temporary considering the state’s horrid fiscal condition.

But taxes and budgeting is only one piece of the complicated jigsaw puzzle that Illinois’ politicians must solve in bipartisan fashion. Here are the top six challenges we all face in the coming year.
