Bridgeview Man Caught Selling Ecstasy to Orland Park Cop: POLICE

Bridgeview man's attorney said his client was selling drugs "to help his family make ends meet."

A 29-year-old Bridgeview man was snared in an undercover drug sting when he was caught selling 20 ecstasy pills to an undercover Orland Park police officer, prosecutors said. Muadh Anan Al-Karmi, 29, appeared before Cook County Judge Peter Felice on two Class X felony charges of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. He was also charged with two misdemeanors for possession of drug paraphernalia and unlawful use of a weapon on a public street.

Orland Park police received information about a Bridgeview resident allegedly selling MDMA, also known as ecstasy and molly, to people in the Orland area. Police initiated an undercover operation and arranged to buy some ecstasy from a dealer later identified as Al-Karmi, the prosecutor said. A meeting was set up in Orland Park.

Around 5 p.m. Oct. 24, Al-Karmi met the undercover cop at the Orland Park Home Depot at 7300 W. 159th St. Al-Karmi doled out 20 pills of ecstasy and sold them to the undercover cop, the prosecutor said. Al-Karmi was taken into police custody. Police said a subsequent search of Al-Karmi’s car revealed 113 hits of ecstasy, 27.7 grams of cocaine, a digital scale and numerous baggies, along with $1,563 in cash. A stun gun and expandable baton were also reportedly found next to the driver’s seat.
