Car Break-in Attempt Caught on Video

Orland Park police are investigating surveillance video from the Ravinia Glens subdivision.

ORLAND PARK, IL -- A suspect who on video appears to have attempted to open a car door and gained entry to another on an Orland Park street early Tuesday morning has been reported to Orland Park police.

Orland Park Police Sgt. Anthony Farrell said a resident of the 15300 block of Wilshire Drive in the Ravinia Glens subdivision showed police footage from a home video surveillance system of a person trying to gain entry into a neighbor's van at 5:13 a.m. on Tuesday. No entry to the van was gained because the doors were apparently locked, Farrell said.

But another video shows the suspect entering a difference vehicle on the block, according to police. Owners of that car did not report anything missing, however.

Orland Park police continue to investigate.

"As always, the Orland Park Police encourage residents to keep their car doors locked and valuables out of sight, even when parked in their own driveway," Farrell wrote in an email to Orland Park Patch. "We also ask that anyone who observes any suspicious activity in their neighborhood contact the police right away. The police department has the motto of 'If you SEE something, SAY something, NOW!'"
