Car Burglars Swipe Unlocked Vehicle in Orland Park: Police

ORLAND PARK, IL -- Orland Park was hit by another rash of car burglars on April 5. Unfortunately, the purported burglars also found an unlocked car with the keys inside. Police have released a home surveillance video of the suspects driving off with the stolen vehicle along with their follow car. This latest alleged car theft comes on the heels of another outbreak of unlocked vehicle burglaries during the overnight hours of March 29 to March 30.
Over in Lemont, a Subaru was stolen during another outbreak of unlocked car burglaries in Lemont, according to police information. The Subaru was later recovered at a Shell gas station in Bolingbrook. The crime is similar others reported in Homewood and Skokie.
This latest alleged car theft comes on the heels of another outbreak of unlocked vehicle burglaries in Orland Park and Palos Heights that happened last month. The recent uptick in unlocked vehicle burglaries have prompted the Orland Park Police Department to issue a community alert. Most of the reported auto-related burglaries occur in the late evening to early morning hours.

Police say these crimes are preventable. Lock all vehicle doors even if only away from your vehicle for a short tie. Do not leave valuables in the car, especially in plain site, or key fobs or keys in or near your vehicle.
