Cardinal Joseph Bernardin Catholic School Inducts 8th Graders into NJHS
(Orland Hills) On Tuesday, October 5, 2021, nineteen eighth grade students at Cardinal Joseph Bernardin (CJB) were inducted into the National Junior Honor Society. Newly inducted members have excelled in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, character, and citizenship. The ceremony was presided over by Fr. William Corcoran, pastor of St. Elizabeth Seton Parish, Ms. Kelly Bourrell, Principal of CJB, Jeanne Pagliaro, Assistant Principal of CJB, and NJHS Chapter Advisor, Ms.Kristin Roy.
The school follows the NJHS National Constitution guidelines. Ms. Kristin Roy, eighth grade teacher, serves as the chapter advisor and is aided by five dedicated faculty members that develop and administer the selection and participation procedures. These faculty members include Mrs. Tracy Cokinos, Mrs. Julie Budlove, Ms. Julie Martin, Mrs. Jan McLaughlin, and Mrs. Lisa Murphy.
The newly inducted NJHS members will engage in meaningful service activities for their school, parishes, and communities. Officers were also selected to coordinate various leadership projects, establish meeting agendas and track service hours. The 2020-21 officers of the CJB chapter include Kate Gomez, President; Delany Johnson, Vice President; Everett Villaseñor, Secretary; and Fiona Hilbert, Treasurer.

“I am honored and privileged to be a part of Cardinal Joseph Bernardin’s National Junior Honor Society,” said Gomez. “I look forward to all the challenges ahead as I work with my fellow NJHS members, staff, council, and community.
