Century Junior High's Dr. Brian Horn 'Principal of the Year'

Dr. Brian Horn of Century Junior High is South Cook Region's "Principal of the Year" by the Illinois Principals Assocation.

ORLAND PARK, IL -- Century Junior High School principal Dr. Brian P. Horn was named the South Cook Region’s Middle School Principal of the Year for 2019 by the Illinois Principals Association. Dr. Horn has been principal at Century Junior High School in Orland Park for the past six years.

Dr. Horn began his tenure in Orland School Dist. 135 in 2011 as the assistant principal of Century. He was appointed principal in 2012. Prior to coming to Century, Dr. Horn spent 11 years as a National Board Certified-eighth grade English and language arts teacher in Evergreen Park. As a result of Dr. Horn’s distinguished contribution to education, he was most recently recognized as a Leader of Distinction from the Golden Apple Foundation in 2017.

Staff members at Century Junior High describe Dr. Horn as “the epitome of a leader” and one who “deeply understands and thoughtfully practices exceptional, multi-faceted work in educational leadership as a middle school principal.” Dr. Horn’s ability to form strong, positive connections with staff and students is highlighted as an overwhelming strength of his, said Orland District 135 staff members.

“In addition to being a dedicated and effective leader, Brian is selfless in his efforts to go above and beyond to ensure that Century is a positive and thriving environment for all students, families, and educational,” his staff said. "Staff and students can always rely on Brian to help them effectively problem-solve and navigate through any situation or circumstance. Brian is the patriarch of the family we call Century Junior High, and he demonstrates this daily by putting his school family’s needs above his own.”
