An ensemble of over one hundred Century Jr. High students dazzled audiences with a colorful performance of Bye Bye Birdie in November. The musical was based on the story of 1960’s rock singer Conrad Birdie, played by student Josefernando Marquez, who delighted the audience with his thick black sideburns and musical moves that mimicked Elvis Presley on the Ed Sullivan Show. Included in the show was a stunning performance by national dance championship winner and sixth grade Century student Yiannis Ekonomou as the Ed Sullivan Show Dancer.
Bye Bye Birdie Production Assistant Stephanie Mena said, “We are very proud of the hard work and weeks of rehearsing the students devoted to the musical. It was a pleasure to work with this talented group of students who worked so hard to bring the story of Conrad Birdie to life.”
