Church Volunteer Allegedly Breaks One of Ten Commandments at Apple Store
Milwaukee man and woman arrested on retail theft charges at Orland Square Apple store, prosecutor says.

ORLAND PARK, IL -- A Milwaukee church volunteer and a friend were both charged with retail theft after they allegedly stole hundreds of dollars worth of merchandise at the Orland Square Apple store.
DeAndre Adams, 35, and Gail McCurry, 34, appeared before Cook County Judge Peter Felice on a charge of retail theft. McCurry also had an active arrest warrant for theft out of Rolling Meadows.
According to the charges, Adams entered the Apple store at 428 Orland Square on Nov. 20, where a loss prevention officer saw Adams select a pair of headphones and then return them, receiving a $329 gift card in exchange. He was stopped as he left the store.

Moments later, McCurry entered the store where she allegedly took two Apple watches valued at $398, which was captured on video. She was taken into custody outside the store. The prosecutor said that McCurry and Adams had driven to the Chicago area together from Milwaukee.
The prosecutor said that McCurry has six misdemeanor convictions and one felony conviction in Wisconsin. She was sentenced to six months’ probation for a retail theft conviction in 2015.

Adams has two prior convictions in Wisconsin.
The assistant public defender told the judge that McCurry is the mother of five children who were staying with relatives in Milwaukee. Adams works for a cleaning service and volunteered his time helping to remodel a church.
“He allegedly violated one of the Ten Commandments,” Judge Felice said.
Bail for McCurry was set at $75,000, and at $30,000 for Adams. Both are due back in court Dec. 6 in Bridgeview.
