ORLAND HILLS, IL — Code Ninjas, a Houston-based company that now has hundreds of franchises across they country where kids ages 7-14 learn to code through building video games, has opened its first site in Chicago's south suburbs. The Code Ninjas at 9253 W. 159th St. in Orland Hills opened in August. According to a news release, Code Ninjas transforms kids into coding ninjas as soon as they step foot in the ‘Dojo’ where they start out as white belts and move up to black belts as they progress.

According to the release:

"Everything about Code Ninjas is built around fun, which keeps kids coming back. But the center also provides the results that parents are looking for, as their children gain coding and problem-solving skills they’ll need for the jobs of the future."

Melissa Potempa owns the Orland Hills franchise and Code Ninjas Area Director Sarah Mazzilla works with her on the operations.

“The north suburbs offer an array of interactive tech camps and I wanted to offer children from the south suburbs the same opportunities,” Potempa said. “Sports get a lot of the love and my goal was to create a fun and social learning environment for kids interested in technology camps and after school programs.”
