Aussie Pop Sensation Cody Simpson Draws Flock of Girls to Orland Park

Cody Simpson Coast to Coast tour came to Orland Square Mall Tuesday, as did hundreds of screaming girls.

Cody Simpson performs all around the world, even in Orland Park.

Hundreds of girls began lining up outside the lower level by Tuesday in the to hear the pop star sing one of their favorite songs. Carrying signs and writing Cody on their arms, there was no shortage of teens swooning at Orland Square. A short meet and greet for girls who had purchased a Cody Simpson item at was held before he performed. Girls took photos with Simpson and were given an autographed picture.

Payton Orozco from Orland Park couldn't stop smiling as she waited in line to meet Simpson.

"I wanted to ask him how he got famous," she said. "One of my favorite songs he sings is 'On My Mind,' so I'm hoping he will sing that tonight. I just want to tell him, 'I Love You.'"

Olivia Gutierrez, 9, from Orland Park was a little bit more subdued as she stood in line.

"I think he is cute," Gutierrez said.

By 6 p.m., thousands of girls waited by a stage in front of Sears. Excitement was building as they chanted "Cody! Cody!" Any time someone stepped on stage the crowd would roar with screams.

A little after 6:30 p.m. the young teen idol took the stage. Simpson brought the house down singing four songs and then showing a few dance steps. Fans were not disappointed as Simpson was cordial and encouraged his fans to get autographs. He told B96 Radio his fans are his biggest inspiration. In Orland Park, his fans didn't let him down.
