ORLAND HILLS, IL -- An Orland Park man was found to be non-compliant with state requirements to register as a violent offender when he was pulled over for a moving violation in Orland Hills, prosecutors said. Gregory Talley, 24, appeared before Cook County Judge Peter Felice on a felony charge of failure to maintain accurate records with the Illinois State Police Murderer and Violent Offender Against Youth Registry. He was also charged with misdemeanor driving under the influence.
According to the charges, Orland Hills police stopped Talley in the 15900 block of 94th Avenue around 1:20 a.m. Oct. 17 in the on a moving violation and no rear registration. Officers said they detected a faint odor of alcohol and pot on Talley’s breath. Talley was taken into custody when he showed signs of impairment during field sobriety tests, the prosecutor said.
A background check at the Orland Hills Police Department revealed that Talley did not register as a violent offender when he was released on parole in May from the Illinois Department of Corrections, where he had been serving a three-year sentence for aggravated domestic battery. The prosecutor said Talley was required to register as a violent offender before June 5 and must remain on the list for the next ten years.
