Cook County Sheriff's Police Step Up DUI, Seat Belt Patrols for Super Bowl Weekend

DUI and seat belt patrols will be in effect countywide Feb. 3 through Feb. 5.

COOK COUNTY, IL – Cook County Sheriff’s Police will be stepping up DUI and seatbelt enforcement patrols during Super Bowl weekend. Police will be patrolling roads in unincorporated Cook County Saturday and Sunday nights.

The countywide patrols will be on the lookout for seatbelt violators and impaired drivers. If you’re going to a bar or a party to watch the Super Bowl, Sheriff Tom Dart advises that partiers have a plan to get home before they go out to watch the big game, especially if they plan to have a few cocktails, or designate a non-drinking driver to get everyone home safe.

During the last DUI and seatbelt crackdown between Dec. 16, 2016 to Jan. 2, 2017, Cook County Sheriff’s police issued 77 citations for seat belt violations, 34 for speeding and found six individuals driving on a suspended or revoked license.
