D230 Board honors students, staff and volunteer

At the District 230 School Board meeting last night we honored a number of students, staff and a volunteer for their pursuit of their passion. There were so many points of pride that the meeting was packed with family, friends and colleagues. What an exciting opportunity to show the ways our people make us proud in so many different aspects of learning!

Special Olympics Gold Medalist Colin Lewis has earned several golds for power lifting and hopes to bring home a few more this year for the Sandburg Eagles.

VJA SAVE President Madison McDonough shared how Andrew High School celebrated Start with Hello Week to help students make friends, build connections and ultimately create a safe and welcoming school.

Perfect ACT scorer Johnathan Schwartz from Sandburg was honored for his stellar performance on the standartized test and we learned that he was just one question shy of earning a perfect score on the SAT, too!

First Team All American Softball Player Keke Tholl was recognized for being among the best players in the country as a junior. She's looking forward to a another great season for the TBolts.

Those Who Excel Award Teacher Judy McAuliffe and Volunteer Rena Sheehan were also honored. Judy's passion for connecting with Sandburg students and connecting students to the English curriculum was recognized. Rena's dedication to the Andrew Athletic Boosters for 16 years (11 as President) was applauded, as well.

Digital Learning initiatives were shared by Chief Technology Officer John Connolly, Director of Curriculum Dr. Stacey Gonzales, Stagg Teacher Tony Roditis and Media Director Laura Begani and several students from a blended learning class.
