An excessive heat warning is in effect until Thursday evening for much of the Chicagoland area. Highs are expected to reach into the high 90s but with humidity, it will feel like 100 to 112 degrees.
District 230 is taking precautions to help ensure our students remain safe.
- Physical education classes will be held indoors Wednesday and Thursday.
- Athletics will follow IHSA heat and humidity guidelines and will hold indoor practices or cancel, reschedule or limit outdoor practices.
- D230 buses/vehicles do not have air-conditioning. All non-air-conditioned buses will open all windows as they transport students home from school. We ask families to consider this when planning on afternoon transportation.
Please encourage your child to hydrate and and speak to an adult if they experience any heat stroke or heat exhaustion symptoms, such as dizziness, throbbing headache, nausea, rapid pulse or muscle cramps.
