Dan Con 2011: Viewfinder

Scenes from this weekend's local comic book convention at the Orland Park Civic Center.

Comic book fanatics who believe the southland is underserved had little cause to grumble this Sunday during Dan Con 2011, a first annual local comic book convention held at the Orland Parl Civic Center.

Patch took a peak inside the 6-hour event, which was organized by Dan Royer, better known as "Decapitated Dan," and found no shortage of characters, both on and off the pages.

Royer considers himself "just a fan" and said he organized the event to bring other local fans, creators and sellers together. He vowed to continue Dan Con in 2012 and again hold it one month before c2e2, a formidable convention in Chicago where comic connoisseurs have been known to empty their wallets.
