Darvin Furniture & Mattress Earns National Recognition

Darvin Furniture & Mattress has earned the 2021 Retail Giant of Bedding Award from Furniture Today, a highly respected publication in the furniture industry.

The award was presented May 20 to Darvin President Will Harris and Darvin Vice President of Merchandising & Business Development Hanny Diab during the 2021 Bedding Conference.

Diab said the Darvin Mattress Store has been offering the largest selection of mattresses in the Chicago area since 1920. With the 2010 opening of the 9,000-square-foot Bedding Showroom, Darvin has been able to showcase the most popular brands, including Beautyrest, Tempur-Pedic, Aireloom, Serta, Sealy, Stearns & Foster, Restonic Therapedic and iComfort.

Retailers are selected for the Retail Giants of Bedding award based on a number of criteria, including showroom display and a unique approach to selling sleep products, including sleep accessories.

“Recommendations from manufacturers and peers within the industry are the highest level of praise, and those recommendations carry a lot of weight in our selections,” said Sheila Long O’Mara, executive editor of Furniture Today. “Darvin Furniture & Mattress has great partnerships with a broad swath of bedding manufacturers, and several of them mentioned Darvin as a leader in the mattress category. Other home furnishings retailers also see the retailer as a significant player.”

This award comes on the heels of the business earning a 2018 Leadership Award from the same publication, and being recognized in early 2019 by the Village of Orland Park with an Outstanding Accomplishment Award. In the fall of 2020, a generous contribution from Darvin Furniture & Mattress to the Orland Park Public Library afforded the opportunity to open a Sensory Room, specifically designed for young patrons who can feel overwhelmed by new environments, noise levels or other types of high stimuli.
