Discover Nirvana with Wine and Chocolate: A Great Escape

Frankfort Wine Styles knows the way to a woman's heart.

Sorry fellas. This is for ladies only.

On Tuesday, March 15, will be hosting Vino Vixens. The event, entitled "Decadence and Divas," will offer an opportunity for participants to explore an array of wine and chocolate pairings. Instructors also will show how wines can be added to a dessert repertoire.

"Our instructor will demonstrate how to combine a merlot with a chocolate mix to create a chocolate wine dessert," said Jeff Armor, owner of Wine Styles in Frankfort. "It'll be a really fun, fun night."

The Vino Vixens group was "resurrected" in January as interest in the night-out event grew. While the venue has yet to be determined, Armor says the date is solid and those interested need only call the shop for the time and location. Typically the class is held in a kitchen, but plans may be switched to the store. In which case, all the desserts will be prepared in advance and explained at the tasting.

"The last Vino Vixens meeting was interesting because the ladies came here first and then they went out for pizza and were able to choose wines that paired well with their dinner," Armor said.

He plans to introduce six wines as well as suggestions for what chocolates would work best with each varietal.

Armor also hosts complimentary tastings every Thursday and Friday evening from 4 to 8 pm. The tastings include a brief explanation of the wine as well opportunities for guests to ask questions about food and wine pairings.

"A lot of people come in to get their wines for the weekend," he said. "Because they've already tasted the wine, they know what they're getting. If you don't have someone who understands the wine, you're just staring at a bunch of bottles."
