District 230 School Board approves contracts

Educational Support Staff and Food Service contracts approved

The Consolidated High School District 230 School Board approved two contracts, one with the Educational Support Professionals (ESP) Association and another with the Food Services Association.


Educational Support Professionals Contract
ESP Association members ratified the agreement on May 21. The five-year agreement will be in effect through the 2022-23 school year. The agreement was for an hourly rate increase of 80-cents per hour in the first year followed by 75-cent increases for each of the next four years. The contract goes into effect on July 1, 2018.

Food Service Association Contract
The District 230 Food Service Association members ratified the agreement on May 15 . The five-year agreement will be in effect through the 2022-23 school year. The agreement is for an hourly increase in pay of 50-cents per hour for each of the five years of the agreement. The contract goes into effect on July 1,
2018.

“Our educational support professionals and food service staff play a significant role in the services our district and schools provide to students, families and the community,” said Superintendent Dr. James M. Gay. “They work in tandem with administration, teachers and other staff members to provide the best possible educational experience.”

“Our educational support professionals and food service staff are the backbone of our schools,” said School Board President Richard Nogal. “This contract is respectful of the significant contribution they make for our
students, while maintaining fiscal responsibility to our taxpayers. The School Board is appreciative of the collaborative efforts that went into reaching these agreements and looks forward to continuing to work with our educational support professionals and food service staff.”
