District All-State musicians play, croon their way to top

Top musicians named, celebrated at District 230

Each year students are selected for the Illinois Music Educators All-State and All-District Festival Band, Choir, Orchestra, Jazz Band and Vocal Jazz Ensemble. There are more than 80 high schools who participate annually in auditions in District 1. This is quite an honor to be selected, given that District 230 schools are part of the largest of the nine districts in the state of Illinois; encompassing a large portion of the southwest suburbs, the entire city of Chicago and more than 2,000 students who audition.

The process begins in October when students audition for the District level ensembles. The students with the highest scores in each district across Illinois are submitted to a meeting of all district presidents of ILMEA. District representatives select the most outstanding students to represent their districts at the state level as members of the all-state ensembles. The number of entries allowed per district is based on the number of schools who participated in auditions.

This year District 230 had 10 students selected as all-state musicians. Once students are selected they either have their previous audition reviewed or they re-audition prior to the state conference for placement in the All-State or Honors Level Ensembles.

Congratulations to District 230 musicians for their accomplishments:
