Drunk Driver Hits Curb On LaGrange Road, Blows Out Tire: Police
Police said driver hit two curbs and swerved across three lanes of traffic.

ORLAND PARK, IL -- A Homer Glen man was arrested after he swerved across several lanes of traffic, hit a curb and blew out a tire, prosecutors said. Scott Burns, 53, appeared before Cook County Judge Peter Felice on felony charges of aggravated DUI and driving without a valid license. Burns was also charged with multiple traffic violations.
Around 11:46 p.m. Aug. 5, an off-duty Berwyn police officer saw a Honda driving without its lights and swerving in the 14400 block of South LaGrange Road. The off-duty cop called 911 and Orland Park police arrived in time to see the driver, later identified as Burns, allegedly hit a curb and blow out a tire. The prosecutor said officers followed Burns with the police car’s lights flashing. Burns allegedly swerved across three lanes of traffic, hit another curb and then drive up onto the grass of a business. Officers watched Burns stumble up to the business and try to enter, the prosecutor said.
An officer went to help Burns, who had trouble standing, and had to physically support him as they walked back to the patrol car, the prosecutor said. Burns allegedly admitted that he had too much to drunk and shouldn’t have been driving. According to the charges, officers searched Burns’ car, where they found an almost empty bottle of Jack Daniels on the front passenger seat floorboard.

“While this is a DUI there were no accidents,” the assistant public defender said.
“Thank, God,” Felice said. “ I find him to be a complete danger, hitting two curbs and running away from police.”
Bail was set at $250,000. Burns is due back court Aug. 21 in Bridgeview.
