Elderly Woman Dies In Fatal Orland Park Kitchen Fire
Orland firefighters find severely burned 89-year-old woman in kitchen after responding to fire, officials said.

ORLAND PARK, IL -- An 89-year-old Orland Park resident passed away from injuries she suffered in a kitchen fire in her home last Friday. The victim was identified as Margaret Keane. Fire officials said the woman was alone at the time of the fire.
Orland firefighters responded to a fire in an apartment building around 5 p.m. April 6 in the 7300 block of Paradise Lane. Officials found a severely burned elderly resident in the kitchen. Paramedics immediately transported the woman to Palos Community Hospital in Palos Heights. The woman died on April 8.
Fire officials said the fire was contained to the kitchen of the home. The Orland Fire Protection District reminds people to use caution when cooking in the home.

“We always urge residents to refrain from wearing loose clothing which can easily catch fire. Have “We all take cooking for granted but it can result in tragedies when accidents occur,” Orland Fire Chief Michael a fire extinguisher present in the home and nearby. Use safe cooking practices such as never leaving food unattended on the stove.”
