33rd Annual Orland Open Spelling Bee

The 33rd Annual Orland Open Spelling Bee is open to spellers of all ages, from eight years old to 80+ from any community. The top fifteen spellers is last year’s contest were from nine different towns.

The 2011 contest will be held Sunday, October 16th at 2:00 p.m. at The Presbyterian Church in Orland Park, 13401 South Wolf Road. The Village of Orland Park is co-sponsoring the event and Mayor Dan McLaughlin will offer the welcome with the village trustee serving as contest judges.

Children age eight to ten will compete at 2:00 p.m. with all others at 3:00 p.m. Trophies and award winners will be announced at 3:45 p.m. Pre-registration is available by calling 708/429-7764 or 708/460-0948. There is no charge to participate. Information and guidelines will be mailed to all who pre-registered.
