Business and civic leader Lori Healey will kick off the 2012 Breakfast with the Experts speaker and networking series on Thurs., March 15 at Saint Xavier University. Healey was selected as executive director for the G-8 and North Atlantic Treaty Organization Chicago Host Committee, and leaders from around the world will gather for the two diplomatic summits hosted by President Barack Obama. Given the rising interest in Chicago’s role in playing host to world leaders, SXU and the Beverly Area Planning Association are pleased to provide a forum surrounding these important events. The event, jointly sponsored by SXU and BAPA, begins at 7:30 a.m. with a networking breakfast followed by the 8 a.m. keynote address. It will be held in the Butler Reception Room, located in the Warde Academic Center at SXU's Chicago campus, 3700 W. 103rd St. Registration is $20 for the public and $15 for BAPA Members. Space is limited and reservations are required. For more information or to register, contact BAPA at (773) 233-3100 or www.bapa.org. In addition to her role in organizing the G-8 and NATO Summits during May in Chicago, Healey also is a principal at The John Buck Company, a Chicago-based real estate firm. She leads the firm’s new business efforts, focusing on infrastructure-related and public-private partnership opportunities. She most recently served as president of Chicago 2016, the city’s Olympic bid organization, a position she assumed in January 2009 after serving as Mayor Richard M. Daley’s Chief of Staff. She also served as Commissioner of the Chicago Department of Planning and Development and Deputy Commissioner for Tax Increment Financing. Healey holds a master of public administration from Kansas State University. She has worked at several architecture and development firms during her career, and directed the Federation of Women Contractors. She has served on numerous boards, including Local Initiatives Support Chicago, the Chicago Architecture Foundation, the Greater North Michigan Avenue Foundation, the Chicago Loop Alliance, the Economic Club of Chicago and Urban Partnership Bank. She was named a "Woman to Watch" by Crain's Chicago Business in 2009. SXU’s Breakfast with the Experts speaker series brings notable business, community and civic leaders together to share insights, experience and industry knowledge with area business people.
