Orland Township, 14807 S. Ravinia Ave. in Orland Park, is hosting “Crimes & Scams Against Seniors: Senior Safety” on Friday, July 22, from 10:30 a.m. to noon in the Activity Center.
The seminar will be presented by a member of the Sheriff’s Police Financial Crimes Unit and will cover financial crimes against seniors, scams against the elderly, home safety and tips to prevent becoming a victim.
A light lunch will be served following the presentation.

According to the FBI, older Americans are targeted as victims of fraud because they are less likely to report a fraud, more likely to have a “nest egg” or excellent credit, can appear more trusting due to the way their generations were raised and can make poor witnesses due to memory loss.
