Orland Township Residents Asked to Give Blood After Winter Storm

Heartland Blood Centers’ Mobile Coach is coming to Orland Township, 14807 S. Ravinia Ave., on Friday, Feb. 25, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Residents may donate blood and receive a $5 Dunkin’ Donuts gift card. A photo ID is required.

Because of the recent winter storm in the Chicagoland area, blood inventories for local hospital patients are still severely low and new donators are needed more than ever. Heartland Blood Centers has 38 member hospitals that rely on their blood supply. Orland Township requests that any healthy resident that is able to give blood, please attend this important event.

Basic donor qualifications include overall good health, at least 17 years of age, 110 lbs or more and free of cold, flu or allergies. A more detailed pre-screening will take place upon registration. It is recommended that any person donating blood eats within four hours of the donation.
