Professor Barczyk Returns to Orland Township to Share Resume Advice

Purdue University Calumet professor Casey Barczyk is bringing his resume building tips back to Orland Township, as part of a resume building workshop on Jan. 25 from 4-6 p.m. at the Orland Township office, 14807 S. Ravinia Ave. The resume building workshop is free to Orland Township residents but registration is required.

Barczyk previously provided resume help to job seekers at the October Orland Township Job Fair, which approximately 400 job seekers attended. Upon his return, Barczyk will cover such topics as how to build a resume that opens doors to an interview, the formula for a successful cover letter and the dos and don'ts of creating a resume.

Barczyk will also explain how scanning can affect the appearance of and the reaction to a resume and he will give examples of a scanable resume format. Additionally, he will share, with participants, 16 skills employers look for.

"Dr. Barczyk is a great asset to Orland Township residents," Supervisor Paul O'Grady said. "This is a great opportunity for those seeking work to get a professional set of eyes to look at their resume and show them how to tweak it to get their foot in the door."

In addition to resume building workshops, Barczyk has taught classes on human resources management and human resources planning, selection and placement, compensation management, training and development, and organizational management. He is also the author of several business journal articles.
