Ex-Orland Teacher Gets 24 Months Probation for Sex with 14-Year-Old Girl

A former Orland District 135 gym teacher who pleaded guilty to sexually abusing a 14-year-old girl was sentenced to 24 months probation this week.

Jeffrey Morowczynski, 28, of Orland Park, resigned last September about a month after the allegations first came to the attention of police. Previously a substitute teacher, he had been hired into a full-time job at High Point Elementary School in June 2014. He was arrested and charged in January 2015.

Morowczynski coached the victim’s basketball team.

He faced two felony counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse. At the time of his arraignment, Assistant State’s Attorney Kevin Kocim said Orland Park police were alerted in August 2014 after hearing a recording of two people having sex in a vehicle. Police found Morowczynski with the 14-year-old girl.
