Family Harvest Church Interns “Harvest” Love for Children

Tinley Park Family Harvest Church Interns "Harvest" Love for Children Fighting Cancer

The interns at Family Harvest Church in Tinley Park are giving to children fighting cancer by donating their time to benefit the Pediatric Oncology Treasure Chest Foundation (POTCF).

Family Harvest Church is focused on building strong families and on proclaiming Christ to all by purpose-driven discipleship, while achieving the goal of biblical transformation. The Summer Internship program is an opportunity for young people to be challenged, stretched and moved out of their comfort zone.

Family Harvest Church Pastor Nancy Shannon said, “The Family Harvest Church Intern program is focused on teaching responsibility and accountability. The interns learn how to be committed to a cause by helping others.”

“We are so blessed to have the support of the interns from Family Harvest Church. Their tremendous compassion and generosity will help brave children and teens battling cancer,” said a grateful Colleen Kisel, CEO and Founder of the Treasure Chest Foundation.

The POTCF is a unique organization whose services impact more than 13,000 young cancer patients enduring 20,000 clinic visits each month in 19 states across the nation. Nowhere else in the nation does such a program exist. Colleen Kisel founded the organization in 1996 after her then seven-year-old son Martin had been diagnosed with leukemia in 1993. Ms. Kisel discovered that giving her son a toy after each procedure provided a calming distraction from his pain, noting that when children are diagnosed with cancer their world soon becomes filled with doctors, nurses, chemotherapy drugs, surgeries and seemingly endless painful procedures. Martin celebrated his 25th anniversary of remission from the disease earlier this year.
