Bail was set at $150,000 for a father of 13 accused of hiding in the woods and then sneaking through an open employee entrance after closing hours at the Orland Square Macy’s, prosecutors said.

Glen Bowden, 54, appeared Tuesday before Cook County Judge Peter Felice on a burglary charge during a hearing in Bridgeview. A warrant was sworn for Bowden’s arrest last week.

Orland Park police said Bowden came out of the woods on June 11 and entered an employee entrance after closing hours at Macy’s. Bowden was then observed on security video allegedly taking 65 items of clothing valued at $2,900.

A loss prevention agent recognized Bowden from being in the store earlier in the day returning possibly stolen merchandise, police said.

According to the charges, Bowden used his real name on the sales receipt. He was identified on security video.

The assistant public defender told the judge Bowden was the father of 13 children.

Bowden said he had gone to Macy’s on his own on Monday “because they wanted to talk to me.”

Bowden’s next court appearance is September 23.
