Financial Aid Information for High School Seniors and Families

District 230 high schools to host FAFSA Nights in February

If you are interested in obtaining financial aid for your college education, seniors and their parents should fill out a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This form is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. and is used by the colleges to determine eligibility for financial aid.

You should complete a FAFSA even if you do not expect to receive a grant in order to qualify for a federal subsidized loan.

Here is some important information you need to know about the FAFSA:

1. The FAFSA form should not be completed before January 1, 2016. Please check your colleges for priority deadlines.

2. Early completion of the FAFSA may qualify your student for government aid programs.

3. Be sure to follow all of the directions regarding the information required on the forms.

Sandburg FAFSA Completion Seminar

Sandburg High School will hold a FAFSA Completion Seminar on Thursday, February 18, 2016 at 7:00 pm in E108. Bring tax information and W2’s. A representative from the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) will be available to assist with completing the FAFSA (federal financial aid form).

Stagg FAFSA Completion Night

Stagg High School’s Guidance Department along with Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) will host FAFSA Completion Night on February 9, 2016. This is a great opportunity to get one-on-one assistance filing your online FAFSA. There will be two time slots to choose from: 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. or 6:00 p.m. to 7 p.m. Space is limited and a reservation is required to attend. Andrew Financial Aid meeting

Andrew High School will host a special financial aid event at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, February 3. The session will focus on how to fill out the FAFSA form for college financial aid. Parents of seniors should fill out the federal financial aid form as soon as possible using tax information from 2015.
