Frankfort Man Charged With Bringing Loaded Gun Into Country Club

Prosecutors said man brought loaded gun into Palos Country Club, unloaded it, and went back outside provoking altercation with guests.

A Frankfort man was arrested on charges that he brought a gun into a banquet hall to an event that was attended by “several intoxicated guests,” prosecutors said in court Monday.

Prosecutors said that James Epiph, 27, took a loaded .38 handgun into the Palos Country Club, 13100 Southwest Highway, Orland Park, around 11:30 p.m. Oct. 17, where he then unloaded it.

After Epich unloaded the gun, Epich brought the weapon back outside where he “provoked” an altercation with several guests. It is alleged that he fired a live round into a drainage ditch.

Prosecutors stated that Epich has a valid FOID card but does not have a conceal carry permit.

Epich’s attorney said that several country club guests “attacked” his client, battering him the process.

Cook County Judge Peter Felice set bail at $10,000. He ordered Epich to turn in his FOID card and any weapons that he owns. Epich is not allowed to apply for another FOID card while his case is pending.

Epich’s next court hearing is Nov. 12.
