Freshmen take D230 by storm

The Class of 2026 First Day at School

With a few nerves and a lot of excitement, freshmen and transfer students started the school year at Consolidated High School District 230 New Student Day. Staff at all three buildings welcomed the Class of 2026 with open arms and a lot of fanfare.

As the only students in the building, the Class of 2026 had the opportunity to meet their fellow students and teachers. Students toured the campus, located their lockers, walked their schedule and were introduced to the resources and co-curricular clubs and organizations available to them throughout their four year high school career. They also received their Chromebooks and student IDs.

On their first day as a Stagg Charger, Sandburg Eagle or Andrew T-bolt, students were divided up into small groups to help students make connections and prepare for their first official day of school.

“New Student Day provides a unique opportunity for our incoming freshmen to become acclimated to their high school and connect with their classmates and teachers. For some, attending a big high school with more than 2,000 fellow students can be intimidating. New Student Day helps make a big school seem small,” said Superintendent Dr. Bob Nolting.
