Get Out: Get Your Kids to Improvise, Fish and Cook

Fun for Kids


June 11, 10am | Sometimes, it's ok to play with your food! Let the folks at Orland Square Mall show you how it's done. Bring your "Mini Chef" for a chance to dig in and make food fun. This event will be located on the lower level of the mall next to .

Fisher boys and girls ages 2 - 13 can join this annual fishing contest. Prizes will be awarded for largest fish caught and most fish caught in the following ages ranges: 2-6, 7-10 and 11-13. Participants should bring their own gear. Bait will be donated by the in Tinley Park. Those under 12 years old should be accompanied by an adult. Register for this event at the or on site from 8:30am - 9am. This event will be held rain or shine. Admission is $10 per child or $15 per family.

Performing Arts

Kickoff Tinley Park Library's Summer reading program with a performance by AC*Rock. This a cappella quartet sings hits from the 1950s to the 1980s in a way you have never heard before. The concert will take place outside on the west lawn (weather permitting). No registration is needed.


Fridays, June 10 - August 26, 6:30pm–8:00pm | (exact location TBA)
Just wing it! Let the folks at Fine Arts Stageworks teach your child (ages 10 - 16) to act unscripted in this summer-long workshop. Using Second City techniques, kids will learn improvisation though games and scene work. The class will culminate in a student performance using the Saturday Night Live! format with sketches written by the students. Registration is $175 for residents and $200 for non-residents. Help open the summer concert season with Arts Alive! Community Band in the amphitheatre outside of the (concerts will be brought indoors during inclement weather). Bring your most comfortable blanket or folding chair and picnic basket. This event is free to all.

Chug-A-Lug

Enjoy the Rock, Blues and Funk stylings of Chug-A-Lug as they play at the Blarney Stone Pub this Saturday. Paul Lopez sings lead vocals and harmonica, Dean Beilke is on guitar, Tim Bednarek is on bass and backing vocals and Roddy Lopez is on drums and backing vocals. While you listen, enjoy the Saturday specials including $3 domestic 23oz drafts, $2 Apple Pie Shots, $2.75 domestic bottles and free soup or salad with any dinner. Admission is $5 after 9pm.
