Harvey Man Accused Of Swiping 72 Pairs Of Designer Sunglasses

Orland Square police said sunglasses had combined value of almost $19,000.

ORLAND PARK, IL -- A Harvey man is accused of stealing 72 pairs of sunglasses at Orland Square Mall. DeAndre Robinson, 23, appeared before Cook County Judge Michael Kane on felony retail theft charges. Prosecutors said Robinson had just recently been taken off probation for a 2017 retail theft.

Robinson was observed around 7 p.m. March 12 allegedly swiping 33 pairs of designer sunglasses from the Sunglasses Hut. An employee identified Robinson walking around the mall, who was taken into custody after police found 72 pairs of designer sunglasses, according to the charges.

The prosecutor said 33 pairs valued at $9,902 had been taken from the Sunglasses Hut; the rest of the sunglasses -- about $8,659 worth -- were stolen from LensCrafters. Robinson allegedly admitted to taking the sunglasses.
