Hastings named to co-chair Illinois Senate Judiciary Committee

SPRINGFIELD —Today, Senator Michael E. Hastings (D-Tinley Park) was announced the vice-chairman of the Illinois Senate Judiciary Committee. The Illinois Senate Judiciary Committee is a historic, long standing committee in the state General Assembly that overhears preliminary arguments and debates over many controversial issues within the state.

“I am humbled that Senate President Cullerton selected me to help lead the judiciary committee,” Hastings said. “This committee challenges you to think of diverse and complex issues in very analytical ways. It also has made me into a well-rounded legal professional.”

Most recently, Senator Hastings has engaged in the debate over the concealed carry of firearms, gun trafficking and the use of wearable police cameras. “It’s an honor to serve and a honor to be selected to help lead this historic committee.”
