Holiday Airfare Cheaper During 'Secret Week' of Booking

If you’re heading home for the holidays—and home is a flight away—now is the time to book. And a week could make all the difference.

Travelers who book their flights between Oct. 5–12 get better deals than those who wait, according to a new report from travel website Orbitz.com. This week is dubbed the “secret week” to buy tickets before prices increase for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Eve.

Prices during this specific week are 5 percent lower than the average.

Best day to book Thanksgiving flights? Oct. 6. For the best deals, get your Christmas tickets on Oct. 9, and New Year’s Eve flights on Oct. 10.
