How Did Illinois Public Schools Fare Academically Last Year?

New data from the Illinois State Board of Education highlight some important and worrisome trends.

With the election behind us, it’s time to focus on fixing and improving public schools in Illinois – a focal point for both Gov. Pat Quinn and Gov.-elect Bruce Rauner’s campaigns.

The Illinois State Board of Education released new data for the 2013-14 school year on Illinoisreportcard.com. What stood out were test score trends for the ISAT, PSAE and ACT, as well as the percentage of low-income students enrolled in the state’s schools.
