International Children's Author Nancy Gee and BMW of Orland Park Donate to Benefit the Treasure Chest Foundati

The Pediatric Oncology Treasure Chest Foundation (POTCF) of Orland Park was ecstatic to receive a joint donation from international, award-winning, children’s author Nancy Gee and Ziegler’s BMW of Orland Park. Several autographed copies of “The Secret Drawer” were purchased at cost by Ziegler’s BMW, signed by Gee, and donated to the Treasure Chest Foundation.

Ziegler’s BMW, located at 159th and Wolf Road, purchased the facility from Mercedes as the previous owner passed away. Under the leadership of General Manager Bill O’Hara for nearly three years, this facility recognizes the importance of supporting local organizations. As such, they support local author Gee, and the Treasure Chest Foundation. BMW of Orland Park does much of their business online, but they welcome all to visit their showroom. BMW of Orland Park has a large selection of new and used vehicles. They also specialize in BMW service and local vehicle repair.

“I lost my sister at the age of 40 to cancer,” said O’Hara. “It’s a small way we can support our community and kids who are going through this.” Treasure Chest Foundation CEO and Founder Colleen Kisel said, “I am overjoyed about having another avenue of putting smiles on a child’s face.”

The not-for-profit Treasure Chest Foundation now supports more than 9,300 children and teens each month who are diagnosed with cancer by providing a toy or gift card in 49 hospitals nationwide. Nowhere else in the nation does such a program exist. CEO Colleen Kisel founded the organization in 1996 after her then seven-year-old son Martin had been diagnosed with leukemia in 1993. Colleen discovered that giving her son a toy after each procedure provided a calming distraction from his pain. Martin celebrated his 22nd anniversary of remission from the disease earlier this year.
