It is Easier Than Ever to Get a Library Card

"It is instant gratification. You can get your library card and check out books and movies at no cost the same day."

It is now easier than ever for residents of Orland Park to get a library card. Residents of Orland Park can bring in a drivers’ license or state ID to immediately have a library card issued to them at the Patron Services Desk in the library lobby. Application forms must be completed and signed in person and verified by a library staff member. Library cards are valid for five years from the date of issuance.

“We made a change to only requesting one form of identification over a year ago, but we still meet a lot of people who don’t know that yet,” said Communications Manager Jackie Boyd.

Children age 14 and older living with a parent or legal guardian may use the parent’s or legal guardian’s proof of residence until they obtain qualifying proof of residency in their own names. Library cards will be issued to children age 13 and under residing in the incorporated boundaries of the Village of Orland Park with the signature of the parent or legal guardian.
