'Itchy Fingered' Employee Swipes Scratch Off Tickets: Prosecutor

Orland Park police found two of the stolen scratchies in the employee's bag, prosecutors said.

ORLAND PARK, IL -- A man working at an Orland Park gas station swiped 30 Instant Lottery tickets from his employer, prosecutors said.

Brian Walker, 45, of Kankakee, appeared before Cook County Judge Donald Havis on a felony theft charge. He also has an arrest warrant out of Pike County, MS, for allegedly writing bad checks.

Walker was working at the Circle K Gas Station in Orland Park around Feb. 18 when he stole 30 Crossword Instant Lottery tickets. The prosecutor said when Walker reported to work a few days later, two scratched off tickets were found in his bag.

The scratch-offs were valued at $25 each, representing a loss of $730. The prosecutor said Walker was captured on surveillance camera swiping the tickets.

Walker also has a 2012 conviction for stealing cable TV, and felony charge for violating an order of protection, the prosecutor told the judge.

Bail was set at $25,000. Walker’s next court appearance is March 14 in Bridgeview.
