Loaded Gun Found in Homer Glen Man's Carryon Bag at Midway Airport

It's the 13th gun found at Midway this year.

A Homer Glen man was arrested Wednesday after a loaded handgun was found in his carry-on bag at Midway Airport.

Timothy McGraw, 36, was charged with one misdemeanor count of carrying a concealed firearm at an airport. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers spotted the .40 caliber Glock 22 handgun as the man was passing through a security checkpoint. McGraw was traveling from Chicago to Nashville.

The weapon was confiscated and McGraw was taken into custody by Chicago police, according to ABC7. TSA officials report this is the 13th firearm detected at Midway this year.

McGraw is a concealed carry permit holder, but the state law does not allow permit holders to carry guns at airports, and federal law prohibits firearms from being transported in carry-on bags, CBS reports. They must be placed in checked bags, and only if they are unloaded, properly secured, and declared to the airline.
