Mariano's Brings Swanky Shopping to Orland Park
New location features Nob's Wine Bar, Todd's BBQ, Oyster Bar and more.
Maybe you’re waiting until all the hype—and the crowds—die down a bit. Maybe you’ve never been and don’t know what to expect.
Whatever your reason for not stopping in to Orland Park’s new Mariano’s since its opening on Tuesday, the store is ready for you, and offers a unique, upscale shopping experience unlike any other.
Roundy’s Supermarkets, Inc. this week opened the doors of its 35th Mariano’s, located at 9504 142nd St. in Orland Park. The store brings approximately 425 new jobs for the area.

Covering more than 73,000 square feet, the store offers shoppers a variety of signature Mariano’s experiences, such as fresh-squeezed juices, and house-made Italian sausage, along with a full-service wine bar, freshly shucked oysters and daily smoked brisket and ribs.
“Whether you are escaping the cold and enjoying our premium Vero coffee, making a grocery trip or grabbing a quick lunch at the sushi bar, our priority is to bring our customers high-quality, fresh and flavorful foods from just about everywhere in the world, available in a one-stop shopping experience,” said Bob Mariano, President and CEO of Roundy’s Supermarkets, Inc.

Customers can dine in on crepes, or pick from a hot foods area that includes macaroni and cheese, fried chicken, pasta, mashed potatoes and grilled vegetables. There is also a soup and salad bar. Shoppers can pull up a seat at Nob’s wine bar, and choose from a selection of beer and hard cider on tap while enjoying a large-screen TV. Skip the main cashier lines and pay for prepared foods and drinks at the individual stations.
The store is the chain’s fourth in the Southland, since the first popped up in Frankfort in 2013. Mariano, who formerly served as president and chief executive officer of Dominick’s, touted the chain’s approach as upscale, but affordable, and a mix of prepared food offerings alongside groceries.
“The lines are going to continue to blur,” Mariano told the Daily Southtown.
“We evolve constantly,” he said. “We challenge ourselves to ensure we are offering the consumer the best experience possible. Where is the opportunity to surprise the customer when they come in?”
Mariano’s Orland Park features an array of foodie experiences including:
- Vero: Premium coffees with a crêpe station.
- Sweet Shoppe: Caramel apples dipped on-site, handmade fudge, flavored popcorn and chocolate dipped specialties as well as homemade gelato prepared with traditional Italian techniques.
- Oki Sushi: Unique menu of signature Maki rolls and sashimi prepared by on-site sushi chefs at the eat-in bar.
- Bakery: Artisan breads, pastries, cakes, donuts and rolls baked daily in-store, along with international treats.
- SQUEEZ’D: Smoothie bar showcasing a variety of made-to-order fruit and vegetable smoothies, plus Mariano’s signature fresh-squeezed orange, grapefruit and lime juices, to name a few.
- Full-service Pharmacy: Friendly and accessible pharmacists, immunization services, Mariano’s Prescription Savings Club and the unique PharmaSmart Blood Pressure machine.
- Primo: stone-hearth pizza made on-site, sold whole or by the slice
To celebrate the opening of the Orland Park location, the Roundy’s Foundation made donations to the Orland Township Food Pantry and The Bridge Teen Center as part of its ongoing commitment to the communities it serves. The Orland Township Food Pantry supplies food to local residents who are in need of assistance and also houses a pet pantry, which provides food and supplies for pets whose families are experiencing financial difficulty. The Bridge Teen Center offers free programming, including art and cooking classes, to help teens from South Chicago suburbs and the Northwest Indiana area develop and grow in a safe environment.
Mariano’s Orland Park is open seven days a week from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. The pharmacy is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Four more Mariano’s locations are expected to open in 2016, in Naperville and Westmont. They’re aiming for 50 stores in the Chicagoland area.
